As a seasoned physiotherapist with a primary focus on stroke patients, Samirah was well acquainted with the principles of physical health. Despite being an active person and someone deeply rooted in the healthcare industry, she confronted a personal challenge: an uncontrollable love for unhealthy foods like bread and pizza.
This fondness for certain foods began affecting her weight. Despite Samirah’s familiarity with health, the scale tipped in an unfavourable direction. She tried intermittent fasting and saw some success, but it wasn’t enough. This wasn’t just a battle with weight; it became a struggle with self-control and discipline.

In her quest for a solution, the internet led Samirah to TEAM Bootcamp. The online videos, as well as her interactions with the team, convinced her to take the leap. While initially contemplating a two-week commitment, she decided to try it out for a week first.

Samirah’s experience at the camp was nothing short of fantastic. The diverse and delicious food offerings, coupled with the unparalleled dedication and creativity of the trainers, made a significant difference. Even though she missed her regular morning coffee with milk and sugar, the initial challenges turned into a new habit-forming exercise. With varied daily routines and a sense of camaraderie among the participants, the camp felt like home. Language barriers, which she feared might be an obstacle given that English wasn’t her first language, melted away in the face of the boot camp’s inclusive environment.
By the end of her time at the bootcamp, Samirah underwent a transformation not just in terms of weight, but in her habits, perceptions, and self-belief. She challenged herself, overcame her sugar cravings, and found a renewed vigour in her exercise regimen. This newfound strength manifested when she realised she could jog longer distances without tiring quickly. As she aptly puts it, the experience was akin to finding an “inspiring, extraordinary & family.”
Samirah’s journey stands testament to the fact that even those deeply embedded in the health industry can face personal health challenges. However, with the right environment, support, and mindset, anyone can recharge their path to better health and wellbeing.
